Casey is an artist and educator who currently lives and works in Savannah, Ga. She is an Assistant Professor of Art in 3D at Georgia Southern University. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, ranging from temporary site-specific installations to permanent public artworks. In honor of the five-year marker of the pandemic, Schachner’s winning design for the COVID-19 Monument of Honor, Remembrance, and Resilience, selected by the COVID-19 Monument Commission, will be unveiled in Chicago in spring 2025. The monument will be a major outdoor public sculpture and park.

Her work with found objects is intuitive, often site-specific, and steeped in remembrance and storytelling. She uses common objects in unexpected ways, working collaboratively with viewer-participants to reveal an exchange of value, the importance and limitations of memory, and the vitality of play.
