This episode is a recording of my conversation with Massiel Mafes at her studio on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. Massiel, a painter and textile artist originally from Miami, and I were connected by our mutual friend, Regina Jestrow, also an incredible fiber artist from Miami. Both Massiel and Regina are the 2024 studio residents at the Sam and Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts, located in Upstate New York. During our conversation, Massiel talked about her recent residency experience, describing the environment at the Golden Foundation, and the work she created during her time there.
